Each vase is decorated to the body with a continuous scene depicting Shoulao, the God of Longevity, and the Eight Daoist Immortals, set between a lappet border surrounding the foot and a ruby-ground band of lotus flowers. The shoulders are moulded with a pair of handles shaped as bats, carrying two loop rings. The covers are similarly decorated and surmounted by gilt lotus bud finials. Each base has an apocryphal Xianfeng mark reserved against a turquoise ground.
