A CELADON-GLAZED BEEHIVE WATER POT
18TH CENTURY
The water pot is of plain form and covered all over with an unctuous celadon glaze thinning to white at the rim and pooling to a darker tone towards the base. The interior is glazed white as is the underside of the base that is marked in underglaze blue with three stylised characters.

Lot Essay

The three stylised characters to the base read shui zhong cheng which is the Chinese name used for this kind of water pot during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
