A LAPIS LAZULI DOUBLE-GOURD FORM BRUSH WASHER, XI
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The washer is carved and pierced and surmounted by a gnarled branch with twirling vines intertwined with smaller double gourds, a bat clambering on the bottom of the gourd. The stone is of a bright blue tone with characteristic calcite and pyrite inclusions.
