A BLACK LACQUER AND IVORY-INLAID RECTANGULAR BOX AND COVER
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The cover is inlaid in ivory with a scene of five boys engaging in playful activities, below a wutong tree with inscription and seal reading biyu zhai which can be translated as 'Spinach Jade Hall'. The sides of the box are decorated with prunus and affixed with two metal handles and a lock plate.
