with lobed quatrefoil base, square upper section with canted corners and pierced angular handles, painted and gilt with a dense profusion of kiku heads below shaped panels of ho-o on geometric pattern ground, the shoulder and foot with demi florets and scrolling foliage, the metal cover with Tokugawa mon and scattered gourds and leafy tendrils -- 6¼in. (15.7cm) high, signed Satsuma yaki Enzan zo.
