Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1951 and its subsequent sale on 13 December 1951.

In production for very few years starting from 1950, reference 2471 is one of the scarcest and largest vintage shape watches made by Patek Philippe. The estimated total output for this model is a meager 5 or 6 dozen pieces, roughly 40 in yellow gold, and 20 in pink. So far, the market has seen 5 pink gold pieces and little more than 10 in yellow. The extreme rarity, unmistakable shape and generous proportions have granted to this model a special place in the heart of Patek Philippe collectors worldwide.

The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Museum - Patek Philippe - Volume II, p. 284.
