3 volumes. 8° (260 x 172mm). 3 aquatint frontispieces, one hand-coloured, 57 hand-coloured aquatint plates. (Light offsetting, occasional light browning.) Contemporary cloth-backed marbled boards, paper label on spines, uncut and partly unopened (rubbed and bumped, labels partly torn away); blue morocco-backed clamshell boxes (lightly rubbed along joints). Provenance: Sir Edward Chomeley Dering (bookplate) – purchased from William Woodin, 4 December 1941.
FIRST EDITION, apparently published in parts. The headline captions are printed in blue, as called for by Abbey for copies coloured by an early hand. Includes plates relating to Trafalgar, and to the American War of 1812. Abbey Life 342; Sabin 67602; Tooley 392.
