Oblong 2° (260 x 360mm). Hand-coloured etched title and 41 hand-coloured plates by and after Alken. (Light soiling and occasional spotting.) Contemporary half calf and marbled boards, red edges (rubbed); quarter brown morocco box (also a little rubbed).

ROUGHLY 200 FIGURES FILL THE PLATES, mainly riders and sportsmen caught in every variety of attitude. The companion to Symptoms of Being Amazed, it was published in parts during 1822, and despite the cost of four guineas in colour proved 'very popular.’ Plates with 1821 watermark.
