Lot Essay

The inscription on the reverse refers to Ms Diane Deriaz - a French trapeze artist Penrose met in 1953. She was present at the creation of many of his collages, and joined him in his travels to France, Sri-Lanka, Kenya and the Seychelles in the 80s- the main sources of inspiration for Penrose's postcard collages.
