MOSCOW, 1805
Of tapering cylindrical form, on spreading foot, nielloed with three ribbon-tied laurel cartouches depicting Apollo slaying Python, Diana and Cupid, Mars and Cupid, further decorated with laurel wreaths, garlands and vases, with three oval cartouches nielloed with a monogram ‘MIM’, all on gilt chevron ground, the detachable domed cover similarly decorated, with a knop finial, interior gilt, marked under base and on cover, with the assaymaster's mark of Mikhail Karpinskii
