oval box, the cover, sides and base set with translucent green enamelled panels of engine-turned scalework, the cover centred by an oval enamel plaque painted en grisaille with a young lady in classical attire crowning a herm of Venus with playful putti and a pair of doves below, within a beaded gold border flanked by two brown moss agate tondi in fluted borders, the four-colour gold mounts decorated with a wavescroll band interspersed by flowers and foliage, the sides and base centred by oval matted vari-colour gold reserves chased with trophies of love, music, and harvest alternating with circular brown moss-agate panels framed by flutes, bright-cut gold rims
