Shaped circular and on lattice-pierced feet, with openwork border, the centre engraved with rocaille, latticework, cartouche and coat-of-arms, marked underneath

26 oz. 17 dwt. (835 gr.)
The arms are those of Belson impaling Larpent, for Joseph Belson (d.1799) and his wife Mary (1739-1816), sister of John Larpent, whom he married in 1760. Joseph was a senior clerk in the Admiralty. Their son Major General Sir Charles Philip Belson K.C.B. (1773-1830) rose to command the 1st Battalion, 28th Regiment of Foot during the Peninsular War and at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
