John Famm Timins of the City of London was Commander in the Service of the Honourable East India Company. He was granted his arms on 25 October 1802, together with the other descendants of his father Thomas Timins, late a Major in His Majesty's Marine Corps. He was High Sheriff of Hertfordshire from 1813. He married on 5 May 1808, Elizabeth, a descendant of John Anderson of Downhill who had registered arms in Lord Lyon's Office, Edinburgh, between 1672 and 1677. They had several children including the Rev. John Henry Timins (1813-1897), who in 1883 at the South Eastern Assizes at Maidstone was acquitted of poisoning Sarah Ann Wright, aged 16, by negligently administering to her a fatal dose of oil of almonds. John Timins died 1 July, 1843 at Hilfield, Hertfordshire, aged 76, and his wife Elizabeth died 5 May 1862.
