Contemporary red morocco, edges gilt, blue endpapers (rebacked and with morocco label in English supplied, endpapers with short wormtracks). Provenance: remnant of Italian bookseller’s label – John Roland Abbey (1894-1969; bookplate, inventory number 6827, dated 26 June 1957).

FIRST EDITION. THE ABBEY COPY. RARE: ABPC and RBH record no copy at auction. WorldCat records just three copies: in the Newberry, Houghton and Grolier Club libraries. Pietro Leopoldo was later Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor.
