Opaque pigments and gold on paper, the first painting depicting a parade of elephants, each richly caparisoned, their mahouts wearing colourful attires and holding ankuses, three foot soldiers with quilted tunics, bows and quiver, shamshirs and helmets in front, a walled city atop a rocky outcrop and the Qutub minar in the background ; the second painting showing two prisoners with bound hands brought by a lancer and a turbaned knight in chainmail to a mounted ruler, his standard and parasol bearers flanked by knights, mounted, framed and glazed
Each painting 7 5/8 x 5 5/8in. (19.5 x 14.5cm.); 15 ½ x 20 ½in. (39.4 x 52cm.) with frame
