Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the blue skinned deity flanked by his consorts on raised gold dais under a gold pavilion in a lush garden, the raja in full regalia and his wife holding flywhisks on one side, the other with three further devotees dressed in white possibly representing ancestors of the Raja, set on wide red margins with yellow, white and black rules

A related portrait of Raja Rao II with very similar headgear decorated with a prominent sarpech and pearl turrah dated to circa 1840-44 was formerly in the Edwin Binney 3rd Collection and now held in the San Diego Museum of Art, (Mark Zebrowski, Deccani Painting, London, 1983, no. 255, p.275).
