On lightly splayed foot, the ribbed body in the form of a cantaloupe rising to a ringed flaring neck, the squat domed lid with acorn finial, the fine repoussé and chased decoration consisting of elegant floral sprays between registers of split-palmettes, the neck and mouth with similar decoration arranged in pointed arched niches, the lid with elegant floriated scrollworks, marked 'W&O' under the base

Although the maker's mark 'W&O' appears to be unrecorded, two pieces by this maker sold at auction recently: an almost identical surahi, lacking its lid, at Christie's South Kensington, 24 April 2015, lot 102 and a creamer at Bonham's, 7 October 2010, lot 394.
