The brush pot is superbly carved in varying reliefs to depict the Northern Song dynasty poet Su Shi and his friends on a raft sailing on wind-tossed waves, approaching the Red Cliff characterised with towering jagged rocks and pine trees overgrowing from overhanging cliffs. The cliff face on the other side is plain.
