Similar polychrome boxes are in the Qing Court collection. Compare one box carved with the same subject but in a more stylised fashion in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated in Carving the Subtle Radiance of Colours: Treasured Lacquerware in the National Palace Museum, Taipei, 2008, p. 168, no. 187.
