細節

盤為五瓣隨形狀，曲線優美。盤作五瓣蜀葵花形，盤一側雕過枝花葉及花苞，葉脈施以藍色，增加整體的顏色，連原配錦座。盤內雕刻兩隻蝴蝶和一隻肥碩的螽斯蟲。桃實寓意長壽，雙蝶寓意喜相逢。螽斯，昆蟲名，產卵極多。《詩經．周南．螽斯》：「螽斯羽，詵詵兮。」舊時有螽斯衍慶吉祥語，用於祝頌子孫眾多。紫禁城內東有「螽斯門」，西有「麟趾門」，皇家希望子孫繁衍昌盛。連原配錦座。
此盤牙質細膩潔白，雕刻精緻到位，寓意福壽綿綿，子孫昌盛。兩岸故宮均有類似藏品的收藏，參見《北京故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系 — 竹木牙角雕刻》，香港商務印書館，2002年，頁202，圖166（圖一）。

The present lot is unique as only one other washer of this exceptionally rare form appears to be published. Compare to a similar ivory mallow-form tray, illustrated Bamboo, Wood, Ivory and Rhinoceros Horn Carvings, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2002, p. 202, no. 166. Both have been carved and decorated remarkably with their leaves and insects picked out in blue colour. The delicate carving and naturalistic rendering of the mallow leaf are characteristic of the extraordinary artistry during the 18th century.
