The present bowl was inspired by the Chinese Yaozhou celadon wares of the Song dynasty. A Chinese carved Yaozhou celadon bowl with similar decoration to the present bowl in the collection of Robert H. Ellsworth was sold at Christie's New York, 20 March 2015, lot 830. Compare also another Yaozhou bowl sold at Christie's London, 6 November 2012, lot 304.
