LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The well-cast censer is decorated in relief with floral sprigs between a band of silver-inlaid keyfret pattern to the waisted neck and foot. The decoration is finely chased and gilt to highlight the relief work against a dark diaper ground. The centre of the base is incised with the four-character mark, Hu Wenming zhi, 'Made by Hu Wenming', contained within a double square.
