The mark, Qianlong yu shang (for the appreciation of Qianlong), preceedes the inscription Ren Renfa, Wu wang zui gui tu, which refers to the painting Five Drunken Kings Return on Horses by Ren Renfa (1255-1327). This painting was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 29 November 2009, lot 815.

Compare, also, a similar imperial inscribed white jade scroll clasp, which also bears a Qianlong yu shang mark, sold at Christie's New York, 22-23 March 2012, lot 1876.
