A WHITE JADE RECTANGULAR THREE-TIERED BOX AND COVER
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The bottom tier of the box is carved to the interior with a prawn, an insect and a snake. The second tier is carved with a fish, a turtle and a toad. The thrid tier is carved with a crab and two shells. The cover is carved in low relief to depict two cranes below a peach tree and several bats in flight. The stone is of a translucent white tone with some paler streaked inclusions.
