AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED COLUMN-KRATER
ATTRIBUTED TO THE LENINGRAD PAINTER, CIRCA 470 B.C.
The obverse with two revelers and a woman in the center clad in a sakkos, a chiton and a himation, playing the double-flute, the youth to the right wearing a himation, his head thrown back, holding the foot of a cup out before him in his right hand, a walking stick in his left hand, a fillet in his hair, a flute case hanging between them, the youth to the left walking left but looking back, his head angled down, his himation draped over his left shoulder, a fillet in his hair; the reverse with three draped youths, the figure in the center with his head thrown back, a walking stick in his right hand, the youth to the right with his head turned back, an oinochoe in his right hand, the youth to the left gesturing with his raised right hand, a fillet in added red in his hair; the scenes framed by double rows of dots on either side and tongues above, with rays above the foot, a dotted lotus bud chain on the neck, a double row of dots on the rim, palmettes and tendrils on the handle-plates, and a dotted lotus bud chain on the upper surface of the rim
