CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, MARQUE A QUATRE CARACTERES ET EPOQUE KANGXI (1662-1722)
The censer is cast with a pair of handles shaped as elephant heads wearing elaborate jewelled trappings, supported on three similarly decorated elephant-form feet. The top of the reticulated cover is detailed with a band of stylised lotus scroll, surmounted by a finial shaped in the form of a recumbent elephant with the head turned to one side, carrying a vase on its back. The base of the censer is impressed with the four-character Kangxi mark.
