This jade gui embodies the pursuit of archaism on late Ming jade vessels. An almost identical gui together with another similar archaistic example are in the National Museum of China, illustrated in Studies of the Collections of the National Museum of China, Shanghai, 2006, pp. 257-258, nos. 205 and 206.
