The domed cover is finely carved in openwork with peony blossoms and scrolling foliage. The stone is of an even pale tone with fine cloudy and brownish mottling.
5¾ in. (14.7 cm.) diam.

Collection of Baron Jean-Baptiste Louis Gros (1793-1870), France, and thence by descent to the present owner.
