The vase is exquisitely enamelled in bright tones with taotie masks on the drum-shaped mid-section, a band of upright archaistic chilong on the neck and upright green-ground cicada blades at the corners of the trumpet mouth enclosing blue chilong motifs, repeated on the spreading foot with pendent blades containing stylised phoenix, the exterior applied with vertical notched flanges, and the inner mouthrim encircled by a lotus scroll.
