SCEPTRE RUYI EN LAQUE SCULPTEE
CHINE, DYNASTIE QING, XVIIIEME-XIXEME SIECLE
The sceptre is finely carved as a gnarled stem of coral with three large lingzhi, forming the head, centre and end. Each lingzhi is detailed with naturalistic crevices. The handle is entwined by several smaller branches bearing further smaller lingzhi. The sceptre is covered overall with lustrous coral-coloured lacquer and traces of gilt decoration.
