THANGKA REPRESENTANT BOUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI
TIBET, XVIIIEME SIECLE
The centre depicts Buddha Shakyamuni seated on a lotus dais placed on a throne with both hands resting on his lap supporting the alms-bowl. He is dressed in a patchwork monastic robe and his face displays a serene expression. The upper register shows Vajradhara in the centre flanked by lamas. The lower register displays Caturbhujamahakala in the centre flanked by Sitatara and Vairocana. All scenes are placed in a mountainous landscape.
