THAILANDE, STYLE DE LOPBURI, XIIIEME SIECLE
The Buddha is seated in virasana on the coils of the snake which seven serpent heads serve as canopy. Both hands are resting on his lap in the dhyanamudra. He is dressed in a sampot . His face displays a serene expression with almond-shaped eyes, smiling lips and elongated earlobes with ear-ornaments. His hair is in a conical-shaped chignon secured with a tiara. Traces of black lacquer and later gold foil are still present.
