STATUE D’UN BODHISATTVA EN SCHISTE GRIS
REGION DU GANDHARA, IIEME-IIIEME SIECLE
The bodhisattva stands in slight tribhanga with both arms broken at the elbow. He is dressed in a dhoti, mantle covering his left shoulder while falling elegantly down in parallel folds and three different necklaces. His face displays a serene expression with heavy lidded eyes below slightly arched eyebrows, urna, smiling lips and elongated earlobes with elaborate ear-ornaments. His hair is combed backwards in long waves secured with a pearled string and remnants of a halo behind his head.
