CUNARD, Nancy (editor). Negro. Anthology made by Nancy Cunard 1931-1933. London: Published by Nancy Cunard at Wishart & Co., 1934. Folio. Half tone illustrations. Original dark brown hessian boldly lettered in red on the upper cover and spine, and with a map of “The Black Belt of America” stamped in red on the lower cover. FIRST EDITION, in the first issue binding. 1,000 copies were printed but of these a sizeable proportion were destroyed in a warehouse fire during the Blitz. Loosely inserted are various ephemeral items relating to the book including a publisher’s advertising flyer, leaflet and a postcard, and a 1933 postcard campaigning for “The 9 Scottsboro Boys.”
