RADIGUET, Raymond. Two autograph manuscript poems: L’enfance de Cupidon (twelve 4-line stanzas in two columns on one folio page) and Tombeau de Vénus (27 lines on one folio page), (the paper, nearly one hundred years old, of poor quality, brittle, discoloured and with old creasing, some reinforcement of extremities.) Tipped into a three-quarter black morocco album by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, with: COCTEAU, Jean. Three autograph letters (2 pages, 4°, 2 pages, 8°), two autograph cards, each signed in full, to Félix Fénéon [director of the publishers La Sirène], Carqueiranne, Pramousquier, Le Lavandou, 1921-1922. Of Radiguet, Cocteau writes: “Radiguet fait des merveilles. C’est le première fois qu’un poète vivant m’étonne”; the following year “Ma distraction consiste..corriger les ‘verbes’ du roman de Radiguet” [who finished Le Diable au Corps in a few days in the Grand Hotel at Le Lavandou]. Elsewhere one card bears ten lines in verse, and an envelope is addressed with a 4-line verse. Cocteau writes of various works in progress, and his plan to produce a large album of drawings (“Oui!”) and poems, with a translation of Antigone.
