The crowned brand with the letters 'S.S.' almost certainly refers to Schloss Schwerin, the Grand Ducal residence in Schwerin, north Germany. Under the direction of Frederick Francis II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1823–1883) it was re-built between 1843 and 1857 in the Neo-Renaissance style and the marque au feux almost certainly corresponds to an inventory drawn up following this re-construction.
