Lot Essay

A very similar pair of vases formerly in the collection of the Marquis Elie de Talleyrand , sold Sotheby's, London, 22 November 1963, lot 10. Another pair with a green ground, sold from the Jacques Doucet collection, Paris, 1912, lot 214.
