CIRCA 1780, ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN-BAPTISTE BOULARD
The rectangular padded back, squab cushion and seat covered in black and ivory cut-velvet, the frame carved with stiff-leaf and beading, the arms with detached spirally-fluted balusters, on tapering stop-fluted legs headed by rosettes, with a label reading 'Boudoir de Madame...'

Lot Essay

The celebrated menuisier Jean-Baptiste Boulard (maître in 1755), who worked almost exclusively for the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne from 1777, supplied a plethora of seats to the Crown at Versailles, the Tuileries, Fontainebleau and Saint-Cloud.
