(Some light browning and staining.) Original red half roan, engraved title-label on upper cover (rebacked).

FIRST EDITION. This influential early American atlas was published in a number of editions (1824, 1829, 1831, etc), and includes 24 state maps with the counties delineated in contrasting colors. Of particular interest are the new developing states of the Midwest, namely Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Missouri, showing a fledgling Chicago and Indian villages around Lake Michigan.
