Tod was a pupil of Robert Milne and exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1801-1805. His designed included The West front of Gosford House {Haddingtonshire], a seat of the Earl of Wemyss (1800), A Mausoleum near Edinburgh (1801) , Villa at Norwood in Surrey (1803) and West front of a house intended to be built in Shropshire (1805).
