The Le Lapipeoscope was the subject of British patent number 26,765 of 25 November 1896. It was granted to A. Lapipe and under the 1883 Patents Act the date of the claim was backdated to 8 September. The patent related to: a zoetropic camera applicable also for optical projection...when the apparatus is used as a magic-lantern, a powerful light is fixed behind the film in the usual way. The device made use of an unusual ratchetted intermittant mechanism.
