Lot Essay

The Victoria and Albert Museum Catalogue of Water-Colour Paintings cites Charles Rosenberg Junior as the author of Royal Academy exhibition guides (1847-1848). He was most likely the son of the well known German silhouettist, Charles Rosenberg (1745-1844) who was active in England with a studio in Bath from 1787 until 1799. Rosenberg Junior is known to have exhibited between 1844 and 1848 at the British Institution, the Suffolk Gallery and the Royal Academy. (ROSENBERG, C. Benezit Dictionary of Artists. Oxford University Press).
