A WHITE JADE CRANE-FORM WATER VESSEL AND COVER
18TH CENTURY
The crane is shown with legs tucked underneath the body and the head turned back to grasp a gnarled, leafy branch bearing four ripe peaches, with a smaller crane perched on its back. The details of the wings and tail are finely incised, and the center of its back is carved with a center hollow cavity opening which is fitted with a peach-shaped stopper. The stone is of pale white tone with some russet inclusions.
