Lot Essay

These large ornate mirrors (lots 32 and 33), with their delicate foliate trails and cresting spray, directly relate to an example in a Genoese design for an interior with rococo boiseries and furniture by Gregory Petondi dated 1770 (A. González-Palacios, Il Mobile in Liguria, Genoa, 1996, fg. 198).
