Pierre Nogaret, maître in 1745.
Pierre Nogaret (1718-1771) was one of the most widely-known 18th-Century ébénistes working outside the capital, along with the Hâche dynasty of Grenoble. Nogaret is famed for his curvaceous lines particularly the waved uprights, shaped seatrails, and arm-supports 'en coup-de fouet' of his chairs. A related fauteuil by Nogaret is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIème siècle, Paris, 2002, p. 652.
