This work was completed in 1587 AD for Sultan Murad III (r. 1574-95 AD). This work deals with the various aspects of the luxury manuscript productions, from illumination, to binding making and calligraphy. It is one of the earliest Ottoman texts on the subject. Although this works draws from the Persian tradition of album preface, it incorporates Ottoman figures which the author saw as important. See Doris Behrens-Abouseif and Stephen Vernoit (de.), Islamic Art in the 19th century, Tradition, Innovation and Eclecticism, Leiden, 2006, p.90.
