XIANFENG SIX-CHARACTER INSCRIBED SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1851-1861)
The censer has a pair of lion mask and fixed ring handles applied to the sides, and is covered overall with a matte glaze of dark tea-dust color that thins on the edges of the rim and on the masks and also covers the base where it thins to a paler tone on the raised areas of the mark. Together with a tea-dust-glazed pear-shaped bottle vase, Tongzhi six-character inscribed mark and of the period (1862-1874), covered overall with a matte glaze of finely mottled, yellowish olive-green color that thins on the rim and also covers the base surrounding the large, pale olive-glazed mark. The bottom of the foot is covered with a dark brown dressing.
Censer 8 ¾ in. (22.2 cm.) diam. of mouth; vase 13 ½ in. (34.2 cm.) high
