A RARE FAMILLE ROSE BELL-SHAPED CUP
DAOGUANG PERIOD (1821-1850)
The cup is finely decorated on one side with a female immortal holding a vase of peonies while standing amidst scrolling pink clouds framed in pale blue in reference to the sky through which swoop five iron-red bats (wufu). On the reverse is an inscription, fu gui shen xian bei ('prosper immortal cup'), followed by three iron-red seals possibly reading wan xiang shi ('Studio of a bowl full of Fragrance'), and on the bottom of the interior is an iron-red pearl floating on waves. A four-character mark, Tanzhai zhen cang ('Treasure of The Studio of Honesty'), is painted in sepia on the base.
3 7/8 in. (10 cm.) diam.
