HONGXIAN PERIOD (1915-1916)
The boxes are decorated in mirror image with a parrot perched on a bamboo stalk growing beside a chrysanthemum stem bearing yellow, pink and blue blossoms. The sides of the cover and box are covered in a peach-colored glaze decorated with gilt foliate medallions, and with gilt key-fret bands at the rims. The bases are inscribed with four-character fushou ruyi marks in iron-red within a double square.

Lot Essay

The four-character mark, fushou ruyi, expresses the wish for good fortune and long life.
