QIANLONG FOUR-CHARACTER GILT MARKS WITHIN DOUBLE SQUARES AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
Each has deep sides and is decorated on the exterior with three five-clawed dragons racing amidst dense flower scroll between borders of petal lappets below and ruyi heads above, and on the interior with a central flower head surrounded by lotus scroll with feathery leaves that continues to the rim.
3 ½ and 3 3/8 in. (8.8 and 8.6 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A pair of very similar gilt-decorated Qianlong-marked jade bowls was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 30 May 2006, lot 1585, and another single Qianlong-marked example was also sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 30 May 2012, lot 4314.
